How to Achieve Accurate Transcription and Translation Using Equipment

Accuracy may decrease due to noise and howling at the venue, so we recommend using an audio interface.

When distributing translations, by using a mixer to stream audio to a PC, you can achieve high-accuracy transcription and translation by excluding venue noise and echo audio at the point of audio input to the mixer. You can also insert an audio interface between the mixer and microphone to make various additional settings. Additionally, you can increase the number of microphones and PCs depending on the number of speakers and languages. It’s also possible to operate with separate mixers. Below is a list of equipment that has been actually used at past events and confirmed to work (we do not provide these):

For Seminars (When There Is 1 Speaker)

Preparation

  1. Please refer to Live Translation Subtitles for Seminars.
  2. If an audio interface or similar is connected, please select the microphone from the main screen.

For Panel Discussions (When There Are 2 or More Speakers)

Precautions

  1. Each panelist’s microphone picks up other panelists’ voices
    • If it picks up other panelists’ voices, transcription will loop and duplicate
  2. Multiple languages are used within the same panel discussion

Configuration Patterns

Pattern 1: When Speaker Separation Is Not Needed Mix audio from all microphones into one audio source using an audio interface, and connect it to a PC with VoicePing installed to provide real-time translation.
Pattern 1: No speaker separation
Pattern 2: When Speaker Separation Is Needed Prepare as many PCs as there are speakers, and connect each microphone’s audio to each respective PC to enable real-time speaker-separated translation.
Pattern 2: With speaker separation
Pattern 3: When Using Multiple Languages Prepare as many PCs as there are languages, mix audio by language, and connect each to a PC with VoicePing installed to provide real-time translation.

Operation Method

  1. On the event host side, move to VoicePing’s virtual office mode and prepare a meeting room.
    • Confirm that VoicePing’s virtual office mode is turned on
    • If using from a web browser instead of the desktop app, check if the web virtual office mode is available for your status
Step 1: Creating a meeting room
  1. Each user enters the created meeting room, unmute the microphone, select chat from the control bar at the bottom of the screen, and verify that transcription is working.
Step 2: Joining the meeting room and settings
  • When connecting and testing an audio interface, please select which microphone to detect from the microphone menu
  • To distribute translation via QR code, enable the listener web app from the meeting room settings

  • If you want to display translation subtitles on venue monitors/screens, press the full-screen icon from the top bar of the chat box
